Started in March 2017 following the death of Dave’s beloved 16 year old cats that form the name, the Dutchie and Renee Senior Cat Rescue Foundation was created to assist older cats who are turned into animal shelters or who are losing their home (for whatever reason – we try not to be judgmental) and are in need of a foster or permanent home in which to spend their final years. Through Dutchie and Renee, we came to realize that older cats still have plenty of life left in them and that it was possible for an older cat to end up without someone to care for them through no fault of their own (the death of their pet parent, their family moved away, and so forth).
Older cats in shelters are often overlooked due to the demand for kittens and other reasons such as failing health, resulting in a high rate of euthanasia. We are dedicated to saving as many older cats as we can and providing them with home full of love so that they can live out the rest of their days with dignity and happiness. We are not always successful and some of the older cats we rescue never leave their foster situation with their foster situation their last good-bye. But for the ones we successfully place, we take comfort knowing they found their forever home and that they will never again be alone.
We are always looking for people to adopt or foster older cats which allows us to pull older cats from local shelters where they do not do well. It is important to remember that older cats have already lived most of their life so when a person adopts an older cat it is with the understanding that their newest companion may only be around for a few months or a few years at best (which also means that a person’s commitment to an older cat is usually shorter). Older cats are generally calmer than kittens and younger cats and generally make better pets for older persons. Adopting or fostering an older cat saves them from a likely premature death for which you will receive unconditional love from a faithful companion.
If you wish to make a donation, please make checks payable to the “Dutchie and Renee Senior Cat Rescue Foundation” and mail them to 88 Agress Rd, Millstone Twp, NJ 08535, or you can donate via PayPal to dutchieandrenee@gmail.com. All donations (100%) go towards the care of older cats pulled through the Dutchie and Renee Senior Cat Rescue Foundation as Dave and Lisa pay all administrative costs associated with the rescue.
If you are interested in fostering, please feel free contact us at dutchieandrenee@gmail.com.
* The Dutchie and Renee Senior Cat Rescue Foundation is a 501c3 registered non-profit corporation so all donations are tax-deductible.
